ANDREW Bolt might have been trying to highlight the value of hard work and endeavour in “Nation of sluggards” (June 3) but underlying his accolades for minority ethnic or religious groups were gross generalisations that smacked of racist stereotyping and prejudice.
Many Jews and Asians are not wealthy and to call Kerry Packer “extremely un-Jewish” instead of simply non-Jewish hints at myriad stereotypes Jews have had to endure throughout history. What did Bolt really mean?
May I suggest that the article is an insult to millions of hard-working Australians and divides our community.
Bolt may have been trying to applaud these people on one level (and I give him the benefit of the doubt) but on a more profound level his article is disturbing.
