50/50 Column

I APPLAUD Adam Goodes for his stance to reject joining the AFL Hall of Fame. Goodes will always be for me a man of conviction, principle and courage who stood up against racism, having been consistently booed for 18 months. Sometimes an apology can be far too late. Standing up publicly for what is right, fair and just transcends the fame of many footballers who apparently were oblivious to the racism within the AFL, and fans, administrators and club staff who looked the other way when it counted.
