Footy unites us all
WHILE attending football games is a great occasion for “togetherness”, what’s really outstanding about fans is their unassuming acceptance of everyone, irrespective of differences (“That’s the thing about football”, The Tackle, 4/5).
After more than 50 years of supporting Aussie Rules, usually beyond the boundary and sometimes before a screen, I remain impressed by the mateship and camaraderie in the crowd, despite different club allegiances.
Football is a great social and economic leveller, a game that unites people whether they’re on welfare benefits or have millions in the bank.
