A force for good

With much anger directed at police across this country focusing on indigenous deaths in custody and high incarceration rates, the resolve to effect real change in Dubbo by Detective Superintendent Peter McKenna illustrates what can be achieved with care, empathy and understanding. That McKenna chose to attend the Black Lives Matter protest in Dubbo “as a sign of support and respect for the Aboriginal community” should inspire police everywhere. Working with Aboriginal people rather than against them may do more to attain fairness and equity than funding handouts.
