The responsibility to respect women is for women to firstly, and most significantly, respect themselves.
Understanding self-respect as intrinsic to receiving respect from others, and learning to say “no” with courage and conviction, may just set safer standards in matters sexual.
However, if there’s no mutual respect, one’s own self-respect can enhance the strength to walk away.
Staying sober, sensible and self-aware are also integral for self-love and self-protection from potentially perilous encounters. As Ed Veber (50/50, 11/2) pertinently points out, “it’s the duty of parents” to instil that self-respect in their kids.
